Fans of sandbox MMOs will have a promising new genre representative in their hands in the foreseeable future. A Finnish developer has announced an ambitious new title with Pax Dei today.
The Finnish developers of Mainframe Industries consist of all sorts of creators who have previously worked on the most famous MMOs of the last 20 years – and now they have announced their first own game in a new formation with Pax Dei. This is a social sandbox MMO that aims to focus on community and innovative gameplay. The studio wants the players to play a decisive role, because they can play a key role in shaping the MMO.
The theme goes back to the Middle Ages, because Pax Dei is primarily inspired by the mythology of the time. Technically, however, the Unreal Engine 5 should ensure a contemporary and appealing graphic splendor and also a modern design. Gamers should be able to achieve their own goals and challenges in a playful way, with interactions in the community playing an important role.
Reynir Hardarson, Game Director of Pax Dei, explains: “Pax Dei invites players into a dark age of wonder where myths are real, spirits roam and the existence of magic is unquestionable. It is meant to be offer a truly open world, and we can’t wait to see players interact with the world and create their own stories.”
In addition to the open and lively game world, the features of the game include building together to expand villages, challenging PvE adventures, PvP battles, countless activities with their own storylines, all intended to be meaningful, and a technically breathtaking World.
Although a console version is also planned, Pax Dei will now first be released for PC players on Steam. A specific date is not mentioned, but it is said to be “soon”, so that it probably won’t take too long. There should also be optimized versions for cloud gaming platforms.
