Joker is no longer just about spinoffs and Smash on Switch, as Nintendo fans will soon get their wish- Person 5 Royal Coming to Switch in October this year.
Like the Xbox, the Switch version of Persona 3 Portable Edition (PSP) and Persona 4 Gold (Vita/PC) will follow up later. The move completes what Atlus appears to be planning to open the Persona series to a wider audience. Having dominated only the PlayStation for years, the company cautiously tried its hand at the PC version of Persona 4 Golden, and now has versions of the three modern-day formula Persona games in the pipeline for PC, Xbox, and Switch.
Persona 5 is the first version and will hit Xbox on the same day as October 21st. On Switch, these are full-price versions of course, but the Xbox and PC versions are coming to Game Pass, if that matters to you.
All three games were excellent. Persona 5 Royal is an expanded version of the hit RPG that casts you as a young thief using supernatural powers with your friends. Persona 4 Gold is also the definitive take on the story of a small-town kid solving a Scooby-Doo-esque murder mystery – but with a dark twist.
Meanwhile, Persona 3 Portable is, in a sense, a complete science fiction novel—though it maintains the same school setting. All of the Persona games are set in the same universe, although like Final Fantasy, each game is a unique title with its own separate story and characters, with little crossover.
The announcement is part of today’s partner-focused Nintendo Direct, which includes news about Nier Automata’s Switch port and a Dragon Quest Treasure release date. Great day to be a Switch-owning RPG fan!
