CD Projekt Red has finally unveiled its first story DLC for Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. The addon is scheduled for release in 2023 and will bring back Keanu Reeves as Johnny Silverhand. In a new area of the game world of Night City we get acquainted with previously unknown characters. We summarize the most important information for you.
Patch 1.6 brings: Incidentally, CD Projekt Red also presented the latest update for Cyberpunk 2077 during the last live stream. You can read about what’s in patch 1.6 – above all the overdue transmog system – here:

Die Story: There aren’t really many details about the plot of Phantom Liberty yet. What is certain is that in the role of V we will explore a revised and expanded area of Night City and get to know new characters in the process. Also, Keanu Reeves returns for the DLC as Johnny Silverhand!
This means that Phantom Liberty must take place during the main storyline of Cyberpunk 2077 and is not a prequel or sequel. Apparently, V is working for the US government in the wake of Phantom Liberty – which Johnny himself isn’t too keen on.
You can get a first impression of Phantom Liberty in the teaser trailer for the addon that CD Projekt Red recently released:

The content: It also remains unclear at the moment what else Phantom Liberty will offer in terms of new content in the form of weapons, clothes, cars, apartments, pets and co. in addition to its quest line. Taking CD Projekt Red’s inspiration from The Witcher 3’s expansions – Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine – fans probably don’t need to worry about that.
The release: Phantom Liberty is scheduled to appear in 2023 – but there is no specific release date at the moment. We’ll of course keep you updated as CD Projekt Red narrows down the release date further.
The platforms: The story DLC will be released for PC, Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Phantom Liberty will not be available on older consoles – i.e. PS4 and Xbox One. Not surprising given that Patch 1.6 is the last major update for this generation.
The price: CD Projekt Red has not yet commented on the price of Phantom Liberty either. However, it is obvious that the story DLC, in contrast to the smaller updates and free extensions, is subject to a charge. Simply because of the fact that a season pass was planned for Cyberpunk 2077.
We expect a price of between ten and 30 dollars – that’s how much the paid DLCs for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt cost.
What’s next after Phantom Liberty?
More major expansions uncertain: Whether another story DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 will appear after Phantom Liberty is uncertain at the moment. In this regard, CD Projekt Red was not consistent in its communication: sometimes there was talk of several addons, sometimes just one. So fans have to be patient and wait and see what the future brings.
The new Witcher: In the meantime, CD Projekt Red is already working on the next part of the Witcher series. The project is created in Unreal Engine 5 and currently has the working title The Witcher: A New Saga Begins. What we know so far about the role-playing game, we have summarized for you in the following video:
