Do you remember back in 2015 when Shigeru Miyamoto said Pikmin 4 was nearing completion? Neither do I…but Pikmin fans do. At E3 two years later, Miyamoto was mum on the state of the game, but still said it was making progress.
Regardless, we hope Pikmin fans don’t have to wait too long. In yesterday’s Nintendo Direct, Shigeru Miyamoto made another appearance to finally show a glimpse of Pikmin 4.There’s no word on a release date yet, but we do know that in 2023
In the trailer shown during the demo, we saw a slew of colorful Pikmin and Bulborb enemies return. The trailer also revealed that players will be able to play from a whole new angle, one that is closer to the ground, allowing us to view Pikmin’s world from their eye level.
As for what Shigeru Miyamoto had to say about Pikmin 4, he shared: “The Nintendo Switch makes it easier to control the game, allowing you to focus more on the core essence of Pikmin games. We call it Dandori in Japanese, or strategic to plan and direct Pikmin.”
And, well, that’s it. Pikmin 4 launches on Nintendo Switch in 2023, but hopefully we’ll be able to grab some gameplay before then.
