After the hard work of unlocking it in Helldivers 2, players are now showing their disappointment with this highly anticipated scheme. Unfortunately, we understand them a little.
The result of a long-standing community conflict to free the mechas didn’t really bring the results expected by Helldivers 2 players. Many therefore expressed their dissatisfaction with the General Staff of Super Earth. This is done in the hope that the trick will live up to its repetition in the first game.
Trouble within the democracy of Helldivers 2
When it was released, Helldivers 2 was a truly resounding success. Developed by Arrowhead and published by Sony, the title quickly became a hit on both PC and PS5. The co-op event game experienced its first month as a kind of honeymoon. This was despite numerous server issues consuming the studio’s attention. A month after spending much of their time working on this urgent issue, it was time to fill the game with new content. And here the situation became somewhat complicated for democracy.
In fact, a first major patch was released that significantly messed up the game’s meta: the strongest weapons, without which the most difficult missions were even more difficult, received nerfs. Worse, the patch made elite enemies more numerous than intended. A fix is expected in this regard. The biggest disappointment, however, is the arrival of the highly anticipated mechas. These were unlocked in record time (four times faster than expected) during a community event. Players were actually waiting for these strong metal monsters to add a little variety to the gameplay. Their use has also caused significant server problems due to the excessive influx of players. Unfortunately, the wait for the mechas and in the server queue was not rewarded as hoped.
Mechas are not as effective as hoped
The community, which until then was happy about the association with the studio behind Helldivers 2, has once again expressed its dissatisfaction. We can read almost everywhere that the main criticism against mechas is their terrible fragility. These can actually be destroyed by a single hit from an elite opponent. A bit paradoxical, while certain, less armored opponents can withstand an orbital bomb hit head-on. The veterans of the first work are the most disappointed, while the mechas were in charge. After trying them out ourselves, we can unfortunately only agree with the initial negative feedback.
Like many things in Helldivers 2, mechs may need to find their place in a game where cooperation is paramount. Arrowhead is now known for its transparency and has certainly weighed the pros and cons of different opinions. It could therefore be that the patch aimed at weakening elite opponents also strengthens the mechas. Meanwhile, new toys will arrive on March 14th as part of a new war commitment. Maybe that’s enough to ease players’ disappointment with their beloved metal bipeds?
