You might be wondering “Yes Grand Tour 7 Is everyone offline, or just me? “If you have attempted to launch the game within the past 24 hours, you will encounter error screens and messages telling you ‘No, you cannot play the game properly’ right now.’
As publisher Sony and developer Polyphony Digital noted, the game went offline as expected on March 17, 2022. It should only go offline between 6am and 8am UTC – but has been offline ever since. Oops.
At the time of writing, what should have been 2 hours of downtime was more than 24 hours (most people wouldn’t get out of bed at the time).
You’d think that wouldn’t be too much of a problem for those who are keen to play games offline, right? Incorrect. Because the majority of the game runs on online servers, the only playable elements of the title are music rallies, world tours, and single-player races with AI (if you’ve unlocked enough, of course). This is a far cry from the single-player offline arcade modes of the past, right?
Given that this is a premium game that many PS4 and PS5 players are paying dearly for, the current anger in the racing gaming community is understandable.
A quick glance at the game’s Reddit page shows that people aren’t happy. In addition to players asking how to get refunds for false advertising through the PS Store, there are videos explaining how patch 1.07 broke the game, and more. It has even been suggested that all in-game save data may have been wiped from the server. Oops. Don’t think that Sony hasn’t officially commented on this at the time of writing, though.
All we have is an official statement: “We are extending our scheduled maintenance for Gran Turismo 7 servers today. Please be patient as we work to complete the maintenance.”
