Sony wants to have the next major firmware for the PlayStation 5 checked thoroughly in advance. Therefore, a beta test program has now been launched, in which you can try out the latest system software in advance.
Sony is of course continuously working on the hardware even after the release of the PlayStation 5 and wants to upgrade and improve it through regular updates of the system software. So it’s no wonder that another major system update is planned for the current year 2021, which will then also bring a number of new functions. So that nothing goes wrong and the community is satisfied with the firmware, it should be put through its paces in advance.
For this reason, Sony has – as is usual with other manufacturers – launched a beta program. Anyone who would like to take part in the premiere of this test program can now on this website to register. Prerequisite: You are 18 years old and gamble in the United States, Canada, Japan, Great Britain, Germany or France. Unfortunately, players from Austria or Switzerland cannot participate in German-speaking countries.
Anyone who registers has the chance to be one of the first players who can try out the latest features of the PS5. At the same time, with important and valuable feedback, you can help shape the development of the software according to the will of the community.
Players who get access from Sony will receive a separate email with further instructions on how to proceed. There will also be information on downloading the beta version. You can then download this to your PS5 via the internet connection via the special link if you have a PSN account. And: You will be automatically added to the pool for future software betas.
The first major system update for the PS5 was released in April. Among other things, new features such as extended USB storage devices, cross-generational share play, an improved game base and other improvements to the user interface and social media functions were introduced. Details on the upcoming major firmware update should be available in the coming weeks.
