Microsoft has increased its stock in the past few months and incorporated numerous developers, above all of course Bethesda. Sony also wants to invest more in this direction and may have accidentally leaked a developer takeover in advance.
Sony could be on the verge of announcing the acquisition of another development studio. At least that is suggested by a tweet from PlayStation Japan that has been deleted in the meantime and that apparently prematurely leaked the happy news into the network without wanting to confirm it at the present time.
Garnished with the words “Welcome to the Family”, the new Sony-owned developer Housemarque was welcomed in principle – but apparently they made a mistake with the picture. Because the picture above does not relate to Housemarque, but rather to Bluepoint Games.
The chances are high that Bluepoint will shortly be introduced as the next Sony-owned developer. Among other things, the studio was responsible for the remake of Dark Souls. In the picture, along with other Sony brands such as Returnal, Days Gone or The Last of Us: Part II, Demon’s Souls was also represented. On the right picture of the Housemarque takeover, there was still no trace of Demon’s Souls.
So, did PlayStation Japan accidentally share the news too early? We will ultimately only know when there is an official statement. Either way: Rumors of a takeover of Bluepoint Games have been around for a while. As early as February, it was last said that it would only be a question of “when” as “if” that Sony would take over the studio. After all, Bluepoint also has a history with Sony: The remasters of God of War and God of War 2 for the God of War Collection went to the account of Bluepoint as well as those of Ico & Shadow of the Colossus Collection or the Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection.
