Pokémon Sword / Shield: Old Pokémon are coming back + Big Expansion Pass

In today's Pokémon Direct, among other things, an extensive expansion pass for sword and shield was announced. This contains, new Pokémon, further old, new areas, new story and much more.

Today's Pokémon Direct was primarily about news about Pokémon sword and shield. Game Freak surprisingly presented an extremely packed expansion pass for the two editions, which consists of two parts. Part 1, The Isle of Armor launches in June 2020 and introduces a new, freely explorable area, a combat dojo, new clothing and hairstyles, Rotom Wheel customizations, new characters and new Pokémon. Said dojo will be at the center of the action. There you will be placed at the side of an arena leader depending on the edition. Over time, you'll get a special combat Pokémon called Dakuma that can evolve into two different forms of Walaosu. Depending on the shape, this will belong to the types of unlight / combat or water / combat.

In addition, a lot of other content comes into the games that were missed at the release and caused great resentment in the first place. So sword and shield will get more attacks and around 200 Pokémon from older generations. In addition, the DLC will make it possible to make poké balls from apricot.

The second part, The Snowlands of the Crown, will appear in autumn 2020. They revolve around a wintry area and the Pokémon Coronospa, which belongs to the types Psycho and Plant. The area also introduces a new co-op mode, where you can explore Pokémon nests with friends to find and catch familiar and all-new legendary and mysterious Pokémon. A number of them have already been introduced, including three birds that are very reminiscent of Arktos, Zapdos and Lavados, but also Pokémon, which could belong to the third generation of Regis.

Regardless of whether players buy the expansion pass for a whopping 29.99 euros or not, free updates will be released in the same period, which will also enable those who receive the old and new Pokémon who don't want to use their wallets.

The trailer also featured numerous new Gigadynamax Pokémon for new and old Pokémon, including starters from Kanto and Galar. So far, with the exception of Charmander, the former are only available in code, but are not yet available in the game.

After an update that you can download today, you should go to the station in Brassbury. There you can already get to know the two characters of the combat dojo. You also have the chance to catch a Galar Flegmon that can develop in Galar Lahmus or Galar Laschoking.

Last but not least, it was announced that the Pokémon Home smartphone cloud service will be released in February. However, further details are only to follow soon. A remaster of the first two Pokémon Mystery Dungeon games for the GBA and DS for the Switch has also been announced. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon, Rescue Team DX will be released on March 6th.
