Portal 3 will have a ‘fantastic start’ if it gets made

fantastic, Portal, start

Portal 3 It hasn’t happened yet, but in a recent interview, the series’ writer Erik Wolpaw did say that he knows how it’s going to start.

In an interview with DidYouKnowGaming, Wolpaw talked about some behind-the-scenes information about the Portal game, which involved characters such as Wheatley and Cave Johnson, and cut the content of Portal 2. Probably most interesting for fans of the puzzle shooter is the fact that Wolpaw talked about Portal 3, to be clear, it doesn’t currently exist in any physical form.

“Jay Chou [Pinkerton] Wolpaw told DidYouKnowGaming (Pinkerton is a co-author of Portal 2). “We don’t have a script or any details, but I have an idea and we think it’s pretty great for what’s going to happen, but we have a starting point that we really like.

“So you know, it’s good that we have this idea, but there’s still a lot to do. Someone’s gotta come up with some new portal puzzles! But we do have an actual idea, yes.” Actually getting this hypothetical Portal 3 is another story entirely, as Wolpaw also talked about Valve’s pitching process, or rather the lack of one.

“Having this idea is a completely different thing than actually working on making a game. It’s not unknown, but Valve doesn’t have a formal pitch process either. I guess it’s always a grassroots movement.”

When it comes to Valve, though, the third one is obviously a bit touchy (I’m talking about a game that rhymes with Calf Knife Glee). According to Wolpaw, the reason behind this is simply that Valve employees “have been attracted to other things. Hopefully there will be 3 things one day.

“It’s almost like the numbering system is working against us,” Wolpaw quipped. “Because we did Half-Life 2 and then Half-Life 3, but it was one episode, so maybe it was just luck of the lottery.”

As far as the actual next step for Portal, fans can look forward to an improved version of the original game with ray tracing, DLSS 3, and more when Portal with RTX launches as free DLC next week.
