Update from February 28, 2022: Over two weeks after release, Lost Ark continues to be doing pretty well. The number of players, that’s how they show it Graphs on SteamDB, are now quite stable. Absolute weddings are still daily over 900,000 players, who plunge into the MMO at the same time. A major slump in the number of players is not yet in sight – which may be due to the extensive endgame content of Lost Ark, in which there is still a lot to do even after reaching level 50.
A fate like Amazon’s second MMO New World does not threaten Lost Ark, at least not at the moment. Even the enormous queue situation does not seem to keep most of the players from the world of Arkesia.
Ultimately, this is also noticeable in the Steam Reviews. After the reviews for a long time only on Balanced
stood, an upward trend can now be observed. Currently, 71 percent of over 121,000 votes cast are positive. As a result, Lost Ark now stands at a rating of Mostly positive
.
The Opinion Picture on Steam is mainly characterized by praise for the game and its mechanics. Similar to what we mention in our final test, the positive voices also mention the ongoing server problems, which then cloud the overall picture.
Lost Ark
Our test with the final rating
Original message from February 15, 2022: Amazon celebrates a complete success with Lost Ark. On February 12 were noisy SteamDB even more than 1.3 million players simultaneously in the world of Arkesia. In our preliminary test, Lost Ark did extremely well and convinced our testers. However, we have not yet decided on a final rating.
Although many players basically agree with us, Steam currently paints a different picture. The reviews are literally flooded with negative ratings, which has led to Lost Ark now only being rated “Balanced”. The curious thing about it: The criticism has hardly anything to do with the game itself.
The servers are the real spoilsports
If you look at the positive reviews of the past few days, it’s raining praise for Amazon’s new MMO. The problem is that most players need a lot of time to even see the gameplay and game world. This is due to the long queues that have plagued many eager players since the pre-order launch.
User Linze1 summarizes the problem in one sentence after 20.7 hours of play (although we can’t say how many of them he spent in the queue):
If you don’t feel like torturing yourself in the queue for 5-6 hours every day, you should keep your hands off it for the time being.
In the reviews you will find a lot of similar reviews. Some take the current queues with humorOthers are sobered and in turn do others from her Steam review a diary. All European servers are currently affected by the problem. However, it is really hair-raising on the more popular servers.
On the unofficial Europe server »Asta«, Lost Ark cracked the 20,000 mark in queued players around noon. Converted, players must therefore expect a waiting time of five to six hours on Asta. But it doesn’t look much better on other servers either.
You can read about the current status of the servers and queues in our regularly updated server ticker:

In the meantime, character creation has also been disabled on different servers, which is particularly annoying when trying to play with friends on one server. Therefore, the desire for server transfers in the community is getting louder, as long as the capacities of the existing servers are not increased.
Many players are also particularly annoyed that Amazon has apparently not learned from the catastrophic launch of New World, since the same server problems are repeated in Lost Ark.
In his column, which is well worth reading, Peter also commented on the current server situation in Lost Ark:
