Ubisoft’s Metroidvania spin-off Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was only released in January – and now the next part of the long-standing series is about to be announced and released.
For those who stick with Prince of Persia, the first half of 2024 will obviously remain excellent. After the release of the successful Metroidvania title Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, according to a renowned insider, the next game within the long-standing franchise is now about to be announced and released.
In this case, what is meant is the well-known, reliable and very renowned industry expert Tom Henderson from Insider Gaming, according to which another game in the Prince of Persia series will be presented in the coming days. Accordingly, there will be an announcement this week on April 10, 2024 – and the release won’t be long in coming either. The next Prince of Persia is scheduled to start early access on Steam on May 14, 2024.
According to Henderson, this will not be a main part of the franchise but rather a spin-off. Henderson first reported on this title at the beginning of April. Accordingly, it will be a roguelite from the French development studio Evil Empire, which made a name for itself with Dead Cells. Furthermore, the game should have the name The Rogue Prince of Persia
If it really happens, then The Rogue Prince of Persia would also be special in that a Ubisoft title would finally be released on Steam (early access) – something that hasn’t happened in five years. At the same time, earlier speculation that the game could also be available directly for the PlayStation would be refuted, as there are de facto no early access titles in the PlayStation Store. It remains to be seen whether the Xbox Game Preview program will be used, although there is currently no indication of this.
In his previous report, Henderson stated that the game has been in the works at Evil Empire for some time and was originally greenlit back in 2019. The artistic design of the title should be based on Franco-Belgian comics and, similar to Dead Cells, there should also be detailed post-launch content.
