Double Eleven is releasing a successor to the successful prison management simulation Prison Architect – this time finally in 3D.
Happy surprise in the evening: Paradox Interactive and Double Eleven have officially announced Prison Architect 2 – a sequel to the successful prison management simulation, which this time also uses 3D graphics. In addition, the creators of the successor promise a more in-depth simulation, more player control, a behavior system for the inmates and creative new options.
Thanks to the advanced simulation systems, you should be able to build even complicated facilities with a high degree of creative freedom in a 3D environment. In addition to complex prison structures, you also have to take care of managing the needs of the inmates and the financial stability of the facility. Thanks to new creative tools, you can expect a more comprehensive sandbox experience in all areas of the game.
A relationship system between the inmates is also new. These can now become friends with each other or become enemies. This depends on who they hang out with, work with, or fight with in prison – and you have to factor that into your considerations.
You don’t have to wait much longer for the 3D successor, as it is scheduled to be released on March 26th for PC (Steam), Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5. The retail price will be 39.99 dollars; Pre-orders are now possible (at least on the PC).
The most important features of the sequel are officially stated as follows:
- The best prison simulation game – now in 3D! Players use their resources to build their prison in classic Prison Architect-Style to build, manage and control – now in 3 magnificent dimensions! They design every corner of your prison and manage everything from daily routines to regulations, ensuring your prison is safe, self-sufficient and secure.
- Build the Ultimate Prison: The builders build the entire infrastructure of their prison on multiple floors and use a variety of new, sophisticated tools that allow them to build a state-of-the-art correctional facility. The design of your prison will impact every aspect of your inmates’ lives, so you should plan accordingly!
- The smartest prisoners of all time: Unique inmates have their own agendas – they now form distinctive relationships that influence their behavior, make decisions based on wants and needs, and plan their paths better than ever. Players can watch them interact and attempt to overcome daily challenges in their prison. They should remember that every decision they make can help or hinder inmates on their path to rehabilitation. What kind of relationships will their inmates have with the players’ prison?
- The prison magnate: Players will build and run a real-life institution from the top, building custom correctional facilities in a newly revamped career mode that will take them across a brand new world map. Will prisons become monuments of rehabilitation or punishment? And will they be profitable?
- Every action is followed by a reaction: Decisions are important and determine the fate of the prison. More control than ever before – over the inmates, prison policies, architecture, and more – means more opportunities for things to go well… or not! Players must plan carefully or face prison breaks, gang wars, and all sorts of expensive and devastating problems.
