Even years after the release, the prison simulation Prison Architect has not completely gone out of fashion and will continue to be supplied with fresh content. Now there is even a fully fledged new add-on in the house.
Paradox Interactive and developer Double Eleven have announced “Second Chances”, the next expansion for Prison Architect, as part of the PDXCON Remixed. Among other things, this introduces rehabilitation programs for prisoners. Inmates can thus shorten their sentences and try to reintegrate into society.
Each program in the extension offers a different way of rehabilitating an inmate and changing their behavior. This includes opportunities for prisoners to socialize with civilians, attend courses on peaceful conflict resolution and much more. Positive changes in behavior can lead to reduced sentences and give inmates a chance to return to their life outside of prison. Recidivists incur fines from prison directors, which should encourage you to carefully implement and oversee these programs.
The most important features of the new add-on according to official information at a glance:
- Versatile measures: Programs outside of the work measures, such as Animal therapy, meet and greet and courses for ex-inmates can eliminate negative traits in an inmate and lead to an improvement in behavior.
- Good behavior is rewarded: Penalties for inmates can be reduced or increased depending on their activities, and repeat offenders can now be sent back to prison. Players will be fined for each recidivist.
- Room for improvement: Inmates with existing or acquired proof of work can become vendors for both prisoners and visitors in inmate-operated premises, including a bakery, restaurant and therapy room.
- Back to society: Inmates can gain qualifications by participating in various work and training programs.
Prison Architect: Second Chances will initially be released on June 16 for PC, Xbox One and PS4, before the implementation for the Switch will follow on June 29.
