Just a few hours from the latest launch Destiny 2 Expansion, PS4 players have been told they are cannot be preloaded Game due to “unforeseen issues”. That means players who use the console and want to join The Witch Queen as soon as possible on launch day will be behind their peers on Xbox, PC, PS5 and Stadia.
The sudden revelation of bad news came directly from the Bungie Help Twitter account (embedded below), which provided an update on the situation 12 hours before Destiny 2 servers went live again. PS4 players now have to download the update at 9AM PST / 12PM EST / 6PM GMT, while everyone else is enjoying the new content.
Due to unforeseen issues, PS4 required content is not yet available for download. Players using the PS4 version of Destiny 2 can download the files tomorrow at 9AM PST when update 4.0.0.1 becomes available.
All required content totals about 72 GB.
Please stay tuned for updates.

This is clearly a blow to the PS4 player base, who will face considerable delays in their launch day experience as they need to download a sizable update from the start. While the rest of the community certainly feels sorry for this part of the snubbed Guardians, it can be found below on Destiny 2 Reddit and the announcement tweet that may reduce the lighthearted hope of the launch day queue.
It’s also a shame, as the Witch Queen will be throwing a bunch of exciting new features when players head to Shavatoun to fight. Lots of exotic weapons to choose from including the Parasite Grenade Launcher and the Grand Overture Missile Launcher. Not only that, but you also have a full weapon crafting system that offers custom weapons as well as The Enigma Exotic Glaive and Osteo Striga Exotic SMG.
Disappointingly, players on PS4 will lose their starting pistols in the race to compete for the Sunbeam level cap introduced by The Witch Queen. We can only hope that after a heavy download, the rest of the experience won’t be a problem.
