September 24th, that’s State of Play!
After days of rumors about a possible state of affairs for this month of September, Sony has finally lifted the suspense: The next State of Play will actually take place on September 24, 2024 at 11:59 p.m.!
This long-awaited players conference will allow the Japanese giant to regain momentum among the players, especially after the defeat Unity and the announcement of the PS5 Pro, the price of which obviously did not excite all gamers, especially given a game library where remakes and remasters happily coexist. In addition, surprisingly, the manufacturer did not wait for this conference to announce the booster version of the PS5.
Maybe this is a marketing strategy: taking advantage of the fall of Concord to announce an overpriced console and yet closing on a high note with small announcements during State of Play so that gamers remember only the best of this month of September.
Speaking of announcements and other information: During the 30-minute event, we will be shown more than 20 games for the PS5 and PS VR 2. The program includes productions from PlayStation Studio, but also titles from third-party publishers.
More than 20 games presented!
So what can we expect? On the PlayStation Studio side, some games are already predisposed for this. Death Stranding 2: On The Beach from Kojima Production is obviously one of Sony’s frontrunners, with the mighty Hideo Kojima at the helm. Maybe we will have the opportunity to see the gameplay of this sequel to a game that was already a graphic benchmark at the time of its release, but also new cinematic clips to learn more about the history of this very special universe Death Stranding.
Then maybe we have something new for Marvel’s Wolverine, gameplay snippets of which recently leaked online. What was shown was an almost complete demo of the game in the pre-alpha phase, in which Logan bathed gloriously in the blood of his enemies.
Also, Unity may be entitled to a redemption arc by giving us a new update of the title, to make it available in stores again and not completely ruin the 8 years of development time the game needed.
As for third-party publishers, we obviously want Metal Gear Solid Δ: Snake Eater from Konami, especially after almost ten years of the franchise’s absence from the video game scene After Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (Not, Metal Gear Survival is just a myth, I don’t know what you’re talking about…). The gameplay would be welcome, although the cutscenes would of course have the same level of staging as what Kojima was able to offer us back then.
At Konami we will surely also have Silent Hill 2 (2024), which was able to restore its image with its previous trailer, which shows us its list of characters, each one crazier than the last.
On the Square Enix side, we also want to see something new with an announcement about Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest with the remake of the third work.
We’ll find out more tomorrow, so don’t forget to tune in on September 24th at 11:59 p.m. on YouTube and Twitch!
