New generation consoles are now available in many countries. Microsoft had a global launch on November 10, while Sony decided to launch its machine somewhat ahead of some markets around the world, including the United States.
This is good, since today we are going to focus on American territory.
Newzoo Expert has shared many statistics to highlight the different strategies operated by the two manufacturers, and this is directly felt when we observe the games that were used the most by the first users of the new consoles. Unsurprisingly, Microsoft has chosen to exhibit its many subscription services and more particularly its Xbox Game Pass, while Sony has once again chosen to focus on its various exclusives.

No surprise then, On the Sony side, we find a certain Astro’s Playroom in the first place of the most used games. As this technical demo is already pre-installed in the console, we imagine that players have launched the game to wait while other titles like Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War or Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales settle on the SSD.
Moreover, it is the latter who also take place on this podium. We also find other exclusives in this top 10 such as Demon’s Souls Remake, a niche title, or Godfall.

Due to the Xbox Game Pass offer, therefore, players were able to try a plethora of games including Destiny 2, Forza Horizon 4, Gears 5, Tetris Effect: Connected, or even Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order (recently the Xbox Game Pass also includes EA Play games, the Electronic Arts service).
At the top of this ranking, we obviously find the Call of Duty saga with Black Ops Cold War and Modern Warfare which respectively attracted 34.8 and 26.3% of Xbox Series X | S players in the United States.
However, despite these opposing strategies, Newzoo Expert also insists on the fact that the two manufacturers have a more or less similar approach with, for example, the acquisition of many studios by Microsoft and the arrival of the PlayStation Plus Collection from Sony. A service allowing players to get their hands on many PlayStation 4 titles including God of War and Days Gone which are found in 16th and 18th places for the most played games on PlayStation 5.
