The long-running battle royale PUBG: Battlegrounds is returning to its past. A new update brings the classic version of the Erangel map back into the game.
Krafton returns to the past with PUBG: Battlegrounds. The new update 29.2 brings the map Erangel Classic back into the game – the map that started it all. It’s a return to the roots of the battle royale trendsetter and long-running favorite.
Erangel Classic is the original version of the popular map Erangel, the first map that ever existed in the game. In doing so, Krafton wants to let you return to the old early access days and recapture the atmosphere of the game at the time of its initial release – coupled with current gameplay elements. Nevertheless, this should give you a certain “old school experience” on the screen.
Accordingly, some iconic elements of the former Erangel version also return. Benches are making a comeback, with weapons placed throughout the starting island. In addition, the weapon balance has been adjusted to capture the feel of the earlier days. The recoil of almost all weapons has been reduced – and you can also find the Tommy Gun in the Car Package.
Otherwise, you can expect foggy and rainy weather as well as graphics, world map and minimap that are based on the original version. Erangel Classic can be experienced in this form for a limited time in normal play. This will be available on PC from May 14th to 28th, and on consoles from May 23rd to June 6th. For this period, the otherwise current version of Erangel will be replaced.
