Long-running PUBG: Battlegrounds recently received its largest map to date with Rondo – and that is attracting players in droves and setting new records!
Krafton has now confirmed that the publication of what is now the tenth map for the battle royale hit has set new player records. Gamers seem to appreciate the different areas of Rondo with a mix of tradition and modern elements.
Since the new map was released on December 6th, there has been a significant increase in the number of players playing at the same time in PUBG: Battlegrounds. Ten days later, PUBG: Battlegrounds on Steam also set a new peak for the title in this category, which was 620,000 simultaneous gamers.
Taeseok Jang, Executive Producer at PUBG Studios, thanked us in a statement: “We sincerely thank our fans for their love and interest in the release of Rondo, the tenth map of PUBG: Battlegrounds. Thanks to the love and feedback from our As players, we have always been able to evolve and we will continue to do our best to give them the gameplay they want.”
The current success of the long-running favorite can also be seen elsewhere. Accompanying the new map was the short film “Ground of Honor: Rondo,” directed by Sam Hargrave (“Extraction” and “Extraction 2”). This shows the confrontation between “Beta”, played by Lee Jung-Jae, and “Alpha”, played by Daniel Wu. The flick was released on December 6th and has now racked up more than a million views on YouTube.
