There are many, many wonderful moments Eldon Ring Boss fights – and most of FromSoftware’s recent work. But the Starscourge Radahn Boss fight is particularly notable for its sheer size, unusual setting, and one move This marked the beginning of the second phase of the battle.
Of course, we’re talking about a meteor landing, where Radahn launches himself into the air and then flies back into the air as a meteor, causing a massive explosion effect.
But how does it actually work? More specifically, what allows Radahn to effectively track players and land near them? The answer is obviously fairly simple.
According to Zullie the Witch, the famous soul modder behind many inspiring and… unusual discoveries, the secret is in Radahn’s horse: Leonard.
A closer look at the animation of this action reveals that Radahn sneaks Leonard into the ground before he jumps off. But what you might not realize is that the scrawny horse continues to track the player’s location from below the surface, which is why Radahn is able to land so successfully at the player’s approximate location.
Of course, this move involves a lot of game development tricks. The Radahn disappears as it ascends, then reappears in a different stance to attack the player. It’s less elegant when you study it too much, but that tends to be the case for most games.
The player suspects that Ladahn always knows to land close to the player, and someone even uses it as a bait to lure him into the water, killing him instantly and ending the fight. But it’s not clear how.
