War for the Planet of the Apes looks huge and gorgeous, and if it can deliver on the thrilling narrative, it could easily become one of the year’s biggest blockbusters. So we’re not entirely surprised to hear that it was mostly shot on location because, you know, the visual presentation isn’t a blurry, erratic digital mess.
The last “War for the Planet of the Apes” trilogy began with director Rupert Wyatt and was later directed by Matt Reeves (who later worked on “The Batman”). Continue/Done, along with the Avatar movies, set a new standard for digital characters, so the fact that Kingdom looks fantastic despite the creative changes behind the camera is a very positive sign.

War for the Planet of the Apes director Wes Ball (The Maze Runner legend) has signed on to shoot the next installment of the live-action Zelda franchise, and he explained to Collider how they dealt with the demanding filming process. “We might have a blue screen set up in the movie. For the most part, we’re shooting in real locations with real actors,” he said. “They happen to be at these interesting points with this stupid camera all over their face, and they eventually forget about it, but you make it look like a live-action movie. You just have to imagine, ‘Oh, that would be You can become an ape in a year. That’s what it’s all about. How do you give spontaneity? That’s the problem for me.”
He added that many scenes in the film are almost entirely computer-generated, involving the characters and the objects they interact with, but “it all starts with real cameras, and the real world with real physical action.” While things like Filmmakers like James Cameron have to create entire worlds from scratch, but you can recreate a post-apocalyptic Earth in real locations, especially when the ape civilization depicted in the new movie hasn’t made much progress yet . After all, the best CGI is CGI that works in conjunction with physical elements, and the results speak for themselves in the previews we’ve seen so far.
Ball recently described War for the Planet of the Apes as the “Ape Apocalypse,” which to me sounds like the coolest movie to hit theaters this year; after watching something as crazy as Godzilla x Kong and waiting for Furiosa: The Mad Max Legend, which received high praise. Regardless, we can see the film in theaters on May 10, 2024.
