With the Realme Pad, Realme is now also bringing an Android tablet to Germany. Can the mobile phone manufacturer also convince as a tablet manufacturer?
- Realme is a former subsidiary of Oppo.
- The cell phone manufacturer has seen enormous growth in recent years.
- Now the manufacturer wants to make a name for itself in the tablet market.
Realme was the fastest growing cell phone maker in 2020 and is still pretty successful. The company was originally a subsidiary of Oppo, but is now independent. The previous success was largely based on smartphones, which is why the manufacturer now wants to diversify the portfolio. This should succeed with the Android tablet Realme Pad, which is due to appear in Germany this month.
This is what the Realme Pad offers
The tablet has a 10.4 inch LC display and a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels. The device is powered by a Helio G80 processor from MediaTek. This has eight computing cores with a maximum clock rate of 2 gigahertz. Four Dolby Atmos speakers ensure the appropriate sound.
There is an 8 megapixel camera on the front and back of the tablet. The front camera is located in the frame of the device, which is why it is a bit wider than that of other manufacturers. Another special aspect is the battery. With a capacity of 7,100 mAh, this should enable watching videos for over 12 hours. It can also charge other devices via reverse charging.
The tablet is available in three versions with different working and device memory sizes. The cheapest version costs 240 dollars and offers 3 gigabytes of RAM and 32 gigabytes of storage space. The middle model has 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of storage space. Here the price is 260 dollars. The variant for 290 dollars has 6 gigabytes of RAM and 128 gigabytes of storage space.
Price and availability
The tablet can already be pre-ordered from Realme, although only the middle version is currently available. You can get this until November 29th for 199 dollars, i.e. with a discount of 60 dollars.

Is it worth buying? On paper, the tablet definitely looks solid and is an inexpensive alternative to Apple’s iPad. Computing power could be a weak point, which is why the tablet is primarily suitable for streaming and surfing and less for work.
