With the launch of the standalone version, Red Dead Online is going to undergo a serious change: A change in the daily challenges ensures that one of the simplest and most lucrative sources of income for the premium currency gold dried up. And that meets with harsh criticism from many players and veterans of Red Dead Online, but also understanding.
Less gold through Daily Challenges in RDO
What happened?
As of December 1, 2020 will occur an important change for the Daily Challenges in effect: After every 28 days, each streak of successive challenges will be reset to zero. If a player has completed the Daily Challenges for 28 days in a row, he will be rewarded with a bonus of 200 RDO dollars and a treasure map.
There is also a one-time bonus for completing seven daily challenges – in the form of an additional 200 RDO dollars, a selection of tonic and ammunition types.

What is the problem?
The easiest way for players to earn gold was to log into Red Dead Online once a day and complete a Daily Challenge: The longer their streak of daily challenges lasted, the more premium currency they were awarded.
There was only an upper limit in that, after 28 days, the highest bonus was achieved in the form of a 2.5-fold distribution. The fact that a Daily Challenge Streak is automatically reset after 28 days now ensures that completing Daily Challenges pays far less gold, as before.
Why is gold so important in Red Dead Online?
There are two different currencies in Red Dead Online: RDO dollars with which you buy most of the items in the multiplayer mode and which you earn through almost every activity in the game. Gold bars are in turn the premium currency with which you get access to certain items or the professional licenses from Red Dead Online.
Gold bars can primarily be purchased in the Red Dead Online real money shop, but alternatively you can also find gold nuggets in the game or earn gold, which when combined make up a gold bar. Nuggets are available through a variety of activities, such as story and side missions, free roam events or daily challenges.

Criticism, but also understanding of the players
The change to Red Dead Online’s Daily Challenges is bumping harsh criticism from many players: RDO veterans complain, for example Twitter or Redditthat they are deprived of the best opportunity to earn gold after logging into the game every day for months only for this purpose.
It is also criticized that earning gold in Red Dead Online is even more grind-heavy and monotonous than it is already the case. Players fear that this change will force them to spend more real money.
In addition, it should not be disregarded that a certain part of the Red Dead online community feels “betrayed” by this change to the game, after having remained loyal to the game for months – for example in the course of various posts on Twitter via GhillieYT

However, not every player is fundamentally critical of this change: For example, in the comments under the linked Reddit post it is argued that the in-game economy of Red Dead Online should be much more balanced if the premium currency is made rarer again.
In addition, some veterans feel motivated to play more missions away from the Daily Challenges of Red Dead Online. Especially in view of the upcoming update of the bounty hunter role in December 2020, for which players are hoping for a little more payouts in gold nuggets.
There is also understanding on the part of the community in the outlook for the standalone version of Red Dead Online: The multiplayer mode of Red Dead Redemption 2 will be decoupled on December 1, 2020 and will be available until February 2021 for only five dollars.

Red Dead Online standalone opinion: good idea, bad timing
The fact that Rockstar is now increasingly relying on in-game mechanics to earn money with Red Dead Online due to the reduced price is quite understandable for one or the other. There is also hope that this will make rock star more future content for Red Dead Online financed. In addition to the known update of the bounty hunter role, there is currently no further information in this regard.
