Gaming News Red Dead Redemption 2 isn’t dead… A new record for Rockstar’s game!
Last summer, players celebrated Red Dead Online’s funeral online after Rockstar announced that updates were coming to an end. While the online mode follows the exact universe and gameplay of Red Dead Redemption II, the title in question doesn’t seem to have spoken its last word yet, as it just set a new record.
Red Dead Redemption II is climbing the Steam charts
Originally released on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in October 2018, Red Dead Redemption II landed on PC in November 2019. A worthy successor to the first opus of the same name, Rockstar’s game manages to seduce players but also the press, collecting a nice 19/20 in our columns at the time. Sublimated in its PC version, on Steam, the game also manages to impress with 88.40% positive ratings, reaching a peak in attendance in December 2019 with around 55,000 players connected at the same time.
But three years later Red Dead Redemption II breaks the record and has the highest player count in its history, the site attests SteamDB of the game, which two days ago showed an all-time high of 66,492 players. With a 67% discount on Steam, the fall sales appear to be bringing a breath of fresh air to the Rockstar title, and Red Dead Online can’t say the same…
And little interest in Red Dead Online…
For its part, while Red Dead Redemption II is enjoying its second youth, the online mode called Red Dead Online doesn’t show the same enthusiasm. In fact, if the counter of SteamDB shows little more than 2500 players in the last 24 hours, the all-time high is stuck at 19,921 players, a record set two years ago. A result that is not surprising when we know that last summer the gaming community said goodbye to Red Dead Online through funerals organized on the Internet and more specifically on social networks. As a matter of fact, Rockstar had announced the end of major updates to focus on the development of Grand Theft Auto VImaking its flagship license the highest priority.
