This is annoying: Before Redfall was discontinued yesterday, a major update was said to have been in the works, which unfortunately will no longer be released.
Redfall from Arkane Austin fell well short of expectations and is considered quite a flop. Nevertheless, the studio continued to work on the action game to make improvements and win back the players’ favor – until yesterday. Then Microsoft quickly closed four Bethesda studios, including Arkane Austin – and as a result, all further work on Redfall was canceled.
This is pretty annoying because according to a new report from IGN The development studio is said to have been working on a major update for the title, which was already largely finished. Accordingly, this patch would have been planned for May and, among other things, would have lifted the existing online requirement for the title and brought with it further improvements.
Arkane Austin had already promised to lift the online obligation in March 2023, but has still been pending since then. It should have worked in May, but then the studio closed. This brings with it another problem: for the time being, the Redfall servers will remain accessible and the game will actually be playable, but if Microsoft and Bethesda decide to close the servers at some point, then Redfall gaming will be over for good.
In addition to the May update, Arkane Austin was also working on another game update that should have been released around Halloween. This would have introduced two new characters in the title, especially since the update would have been part of the Hero Pass. Buyers of the Hero Pass can receive refunds as the promised content will no longer be delivered.
In Redfall, Arkane Austin’s story-driven shooter, players can face the vampires alone or with up to three other people in a squad. The game will be released on May 2nd for PC and Xbox (also directly in Game Pass)
