Redfall: Final Update 4 is now available

Final, Redfall, update

The sad story of Redfall is now coming to an end. Arkane Austin has now released the final update for the vampire shooter, but not all open items are included.

The drama surrounding Redfall has now come to an end for the time being. After the bumpy release, which gave the impression that nobody at Arkane Austin really wanted to develop the vampire shooter, the studio is now being closed as part of cost-cutting measures by parent company Microsoft/Bethesda.

After it was generally expected that the plug would be pulled cold, Arkane at least confirmed that it would release a final update and that is exactly what has now happened, for both the PC and Xbox versions of the ill-fated title. Apparently an update was already in the works and has now been put together in a hurry. The update actually has a lot to offer.

A new reputation system has also been introduced. If you support the residents of Redfall, for example by saving civilians or killing bosses, you will receive points for the six ranks. You can also unlock a total of 39 buffs and advantages. The “Elder Nests” also add new vampire nests where you can take down tough bosses. There are also a few revisions and some new weapons.

Much more importantly, however, Redfall has been given an offline mode with the update, so that you can play around in Redfall without an internet connection. This also means you can continue playing seamlessly if your connection is interrupted. For solo players, Arkane Austin has also integrated a pause function for single-player mode, so you no longer have to worry about finding your character bitten to pieces when you have to go to the potty. DLSS 3 has also been integrated into the PC version.

However, things are still looking bad for the two characters that were supposed to be included in the game via the Hero Pass. Arkane Austin had already announced that the Hero Pass DLC would no longer be released and promised refunds, including for those who bought the expensive Bite Back Edition. Details on this are to follow.

That was rather nothing – bloodless instead of snappy – video review of Redfall

Redfall has already had a few stumbling blocks, starting with the false assumption that it was “Left 4 Dead with vampires”. Numerous delays were also not positive, as was the announcement that the 60 fps mode on the Xbox Series X would only be delivered via a patch after the release. Now the game is finally here and despite all the problems beforehand, we were excited to see whether Arkane Austin could build on old strokes of genius like Dishonored or Prey. Spoiler: No! Not at all.
