The fact that Redfall flopped mercilessly can hardly be changed. But at least the repairs to the game are picking up speed – after a long silence.
Arkane’s vampire shooter Redfall may have lost its reputation, but at least the studio is trying to get the scratched title halfway into shape. Only last week, after weeks of silence, there was finally a first, very extensive patch and today there is a hotfix. Although the term “hotfix” is a subtle understatement, because our Steam download shows us just over 21 GB.
However, it must be admitted that the amount of issues listed in the patch notes are actually more on the scale of a major hotfix. Here are the patch notes in detail:
UI
ACCESSIBILITY
GAMEPLAY
-
Fixed a bug that prevented certain Spirit Echoes from replaying in a session when interacting with them.
-
Fixed an issue where successfully destroying a nest would not grant XP in single player.
-
Fixed a bug where successfully destroying a Nest would not increase the Tower Storm gauge.
KAMPF
-
Fixed a bug where certain hero abilities prevented players from staking the Black Sun.
KI/NPCs
MULTIPLAYER
- General improvements to game stability and save functionality.
Further updates should be expected, even if the title was not very well received. Microsoft already admitted during the FTC hearings that it had not made much money with the game. However, the number of players in Game Pass was quite decent, although the number itself does not say how long the players have been playing Redfall. Quite a few may have tried it as part of the Game Pass and quickly uninstalled it again.
