Respawn Entertainment is known for the Titanfall series, Apex Legends and, most recently, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Now the developer is apparently devoting himself to a completely new brand of games.
Respawn Entertainment now has more than 300 employees and has been working on several projects since the takeover by Electronic Arts in 2017. Previously it had already been confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order should only be the prelude for further parts, so that the studio will probably remain loyal to the Star Wars franchise. In addition, they are now working on a completely new brand.
This fact has now been confirmed by a job advertisement from the studio. Respawn Entertainment is currently looking for a generalist software engineer who should explicitly work on a “new IP”. Specifically, there is talk of the “New IP Incubation Team”.
Respawn Entertainment is obviously actively pursuing the development of a completely new game franchise; the work is most likely in a very early stage, so we will have to wait longer for an official presentation.
What the development of a new IP means for a Titanfall 3, for example, is not known. Again and again there were rumors that a new part of the original action series by Respawn should be in the works, but an official confirmation has not followed until today. Therefore, it cannot be ruled out that a new Titan case may have to take a back seat to the new IP.
Finally, it should be considered fixed that another Star Wars game from Respawn will come after publisher EA – as mentioned – has already confirmed that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was only the first part of this franchise, so it is still continuing becomes. And Respawn’s resources are not infinite either, especially because the battle royale hit Apex Legends is actively being developed. We’ll keep you up to date!
