The developers at Housemarque, which recently became PlayStation property, were thought to be working on an all-new franchise. And if that claim remains true, it was only there to better fool us! The creators of Returnal took advantage of last night’s State of Play to announce a major free update expected for the month of March, and more precisely the 22nd of the month. A trailer of one minute and forty seconds presented the two big novelties that are to come.
As for the first, it’s simply a two-player mode. It will be possible to do the campaign with two players, albeit cryptically, and it must be recognized that it is an expansion of quality. Everything is better with two, even when it comes to crying over the difficulty and demands of the fights. Note that PlayStation states that this co-op mode requires a subscription to PlayStation Plus. No details on a possible local cooperative.

Released on April 30, 2021, Returnal has established itself as one of the good surprises of the year, but it still presents a great challenge: it tells the story of astronaut Selene, who is lost on a planet called Atropos. A hostile environment that traps them in a time warp and that the game uses to serve its gameplay: every time the character succumbs to the beatings of native creatures (and we know how formidable they are), he returns to the ship and must go back to exploring. However, all resources are not lost and allow him to evolve his weapons as much as the hours he spent on Atropos.
A difficult game that should become even more complex. Titled Ascension, this 3.0 update introduces the Tower of Sisyphus to sufferers. It will be unlocked after the second game world and promises new challenges: The tower consists of several phases, each of which has twenty floors. Resembling an infinite challenge, this mode sees new bosses but also new scripted intrigues.
Returnal has been available exclusively on PS5 since April 30th and will release its 3.0 on March 22nd.
