Rick & Morty The animation
The information was shared by Adult Swim a few days ago. Along with the return of the Eric Andre Show and the new and unreleased Ninja Kamui series, the network has also lifted the veil on a Rick & Morty anime spin-off.
A total of ten episodes will be produced for this series, which will only have one season. The project is being directed by Takashi Sano, the director of the anime Tower of God, who already has acquaintances with the mad grandfather and his grandson, having also directed two short films inspired by their adventures. The first is available below.
Regarding this new series, Takashi Sano wanted to react immediately after the announcement. As he explains This show will exist on its own on the fringes of the main series, but will of course retain the characters and specific themes of the original program.
Rick and the group’s multiversal exploits constantly put the family bond in jeopardy, but they always manage to deal with it. It’s such a heartfelt and human point of view, and Jerry is no exception. I’m honored to have the chance to tell a new story of this amazing family. I hope you enjoy their adventures!
Rick & Morty in the Multiverse of Madness
As we know, the show created by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon gives pride of place to parallel universes and with a certain rigor (or rather a good dose of everything) keeps its plot coherent. With currently five seasons and an eighth already in the works, the writers would no doubt be able to add this new series project to the canon universe significantly, or at least anecdotally.
Then again, with all the different versions of Rick, Morty, and their family, it won’t be the first time our heroes have a Japanese version. In addition to the short films by Takashi Sano, another short film was released in 2020. This time under the direction of Kaichi Sato, this project entitled Samurai & Shogun honored the stories of Japanese warriors in a very beautiful way. What to wait before the new series, which has no air date yet.
