Rocket League once made a fairy-tale rise from a small indie title to an absolute long-running favorite and a successful title. But now the creators are going into reverse: the title will no longer be supported on two platforms.

Rocket League has established itself relatively quickly as one of the hottest arcade sports games and has been gradually developed and published for more and more platforms. Developer Psyonix now obviously wants to streamline the supported platforms and therefore partially discontinues support.
As announced, Rocket League will no longer be supported on macOS and Linux. This should free up more resources to better ensure the best possible gaming experience on the more popular platforms. After all, many operating systems and consoles also have many peculiarities that must always be taken into account in a simultaneous further development.
The decision is also due to the ever advancing technology, which is not always readily transferable to all versions. Nevertheless, despite support discontinued from March 2020, the versions for macOS and Linux will not be completely unplayable, as Psyonix further emphasizes.
Although Mac and Linux gamers will be excluded from online games in the future and will no longer be able to make in-game purchases, the offline modes will remain accessible beyond March. So you can still gamble locally with friends if you want.
Detached from Mac and Linux, Rocket League is available for the fully supported platforms PC, Switch, Xbox One and PS4.
