A lot of details revealed by Todd Howard
It’s probably the most anticipated game of the year The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
For almost 45 minutes, the new Bethesda title revealed itself in many aspects, from exploration to customization and ship crafting to story, planets and even combat. Starfield looks incredibly promising, and Todd Howard recently shared more with us.
When invited to the microphone on the Kinda Funny Games podcast, the game’s director was asked about several components of the Starfield experience. He covered a lot of detail and even took a short break from romance novels, an aspect particularly appreciated by RPG fans. But his statement could well be disappointing.
eyes full of stars
In Starfield, like in several Bethesda games and in general in many western RPGs, it will be possible to develop a romantic relationship with secondary characters. The characters in question are often companions who will assist you throughout your adventure. Depending on the various quests on offer and your choices, your relationship with these characters may culminate in romance.
In Starfield, companions will be part of your crew. It will be possible to recruit them throughout your adventure, take them with you, assign them to outposts… Bethesda promises many interactions with them, including romance.
Except that this component doesn’t affect the entire cast. According to Todd Howard, only four characters – the four main companions – will be involved in the romance (from 25:49 minutes in the video available above). Ultimately, this presents very few possibilities, especially in view of past standards, such as within the saga mass effect just to name them.
It’s therefore a potential disappointment for players who just appreciate the wide field of possibilities and the deepening of relationships between characters. Still, the decision to narrow down the options could mean more work in writing these romance novels. Cyberpunk 2077 count as much, for example (excluding one-night stands), but CD Projekt RED decided to dig deeper into these romances to make them more memorable. Total quality instead of quantity. Whether writing those romances in Starfield will be memorable enough remains to be seen. September 6 reply!
