AMD won't release the new Radeon graphics cards until March.
AMD lets the cat out of the bag. Or at least the cat's head.
After the Radeon manufacturer held back with concrete information about the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT at CES 2025, there is now an official statement from AMD's Vice President David McAfee on X/Twitter about the release date of the two GPUs.
As a result, McAfee “can hardly wait for the cards [der Radeon 9000 Serie] will go on sale in March«.

There is once again no specific release date or even official details about the graphics cards. There is also still silence about the previously announced event at which the RX 9070 (XT) will be presented in more detail.

- As a result, AMD simply set the prices of the Radeon RX 9070 (XT) too high; in the expectation that Nvidia's RTX 5000 series will also be more expensive or at least maintain the price of its direct predecessors.
- As is well known, the big competition surprisingly chose the opposite path and sent GPUs like the RTX 5080 into the race at a significantly lower price than the RTX 4080.
- In view of the price pressure, AMD decided to shorten the CES keynote and is working on a solution as to how and at what price they can still win over potential customers.
Unpleasant side effect: The first deliveries to online retailers are said to have already been made – at the originally set price.
If AMD suddenly lowers the prices for the RX 9070 (XT) in order to remain competitive, the dealers must also be satisfied so that they are not left with full warehouses at excessive purchase prices.

The PC community's patience seems to have at least run out.
In several subreddits like PCMR AMD is literally torn apart not only because of the ongoing secrecy, but also because of the late and inaccurate launch date. Some comments take refuge at this point in gallows humor: “AMD stands for absolute marketing disaster, right?”.
Not everyone finds the situation a laughing matter. On AMD's own subreddit, users are more objective, but also much harsher in their criticism of the Radeon manufacturer.

The criticism can be divided into several categories:
- AMD should “stop with these idiotic attempts to respond to Nvidia and simply release the best possible products at competitive prices,” says one comment.
- AMD's current strategy “not only looks pitiful, but has also backfired in every attempt” – but the comment does not give a specific comparative value.

There is almost no understanding of AMD in any user reaction; many are already calling the RX-9000 series “DoA” (Dead on Arrival) or are sure that they would rather use an Nvidia GPU for their next PC .
