More and more information is leaking out about the Radeon RX 9070 XT.
The guesswork and lively search for tidbits of information about AMD's upcoming RDNA 4 generation around the RX 9070 (XT) including FSR 4, the new version of the in-house upscaling, will probably accompany us throughout CES 2025.
The Radeon manufacturer itself has a part in this, as the keynote at the technology trade fair held on Monday left very little information available to the public.
But leakers don't care: In the Chinese Chiphell forum (via Videocardz) more information about the technical data as well as further benchmarks from the well-known 3DMark suite have now appeared.
Radeon RX 9070 XT: The most important specs appear in the leak
The thread, which was probably opened by the admin of the Chiphell forum, begins with striking words: “Wait to pre-order the RTX 5000 graphics cards, because everything has just changed.” However, the user was not more specific.
Additional screenshots gradually appeared that are supposed to show the Radeon RX 9070 XT in the form of an Asus custom GPU:
- The recently leaked ones 16 GB of video memory are mentioned again based on the information shown in the GPU-Z software. These should work at a speed of around 20 Gbps.
- Also for the well-built one Navi-48-Chip will – as in the leaks from last autumn – the 4,096 shader units called, which are supposed to be installed in the Radeon RX 9070 XT.
- The Asus GPU keeps the clock 2.520 MHz. In boost mode up to 3.060 MHz be possible. With this information, however, it should be noted that most Asus models have a factory overclocking; accordingly, the numbers for the reference model (“MBA”) are likely to be lower.
- The same applies to the TDP, which is stated in the screenshots: Up to 330 watts the GPU performs well in the Furmark stress test. Here too, the actual values are likely to be lower given Asus' overclocking.
RX 9070 XT: First benchmark classifications, release dates and price speculation
Following are some 3D Mark values in the Chiphell thread, which are said to belong to the Radeon RX 9070 XT in the “Time Spy Extreme” and “Speed Way” courses and were recorded in 4K resolution. The first benchmark in particular provides an interesting performance picture:
- This is how the Radeon RX 9070 XT should appear here 14,558 points come. With such a value, the AMD GPU is just ahead of the RTX 4080 Super, which has around 14,061 points.
- The Radeon RX 9070 XT lags behind in the “Speed Way” course, which is considered to be much more ray tracing-heavy 6,345 points slightly behind the regular RTX 4080 (6,948 points).
At the same time, the first price rumors are also making the rounds on Chiphell. As a result, the reference model of the Radeon RX 9070 XT will be launched for $479 – and would therefore be $80 cheaper than the RTX 5070, with which AMD will probably have to compete.
Higher-quality custom GPUs are said to cost up to $550, without being specified.
After all, if the Chiphell leaks are anything to go by, we probably won't have to wait much longer until we get securitized information. As a result, the test embargo should drop on January 22nd, while the pre-order phase should start a day later.
