Samsung Galaxy S20 instead of S11: name change may happen in the last second

Samsung released the Galaxy S20 instead of the Galaxy S11. The mobile phone will mark the beginning of the second decade of the Galaxy S series. The name change sounded like it had been planned for a long time, but obviously it was a last-second decision.



Samsung fans collected this evidence in a Reddit post. For example, a smartphone is disguised as a Galaxy S11 instead of a Galaxy S20 in the Quick Share menu. Another user insures his mobile phone through his bank and must enter his IMEI number. The phone is also l isted as Galaxy S11 in the bank's database. Insider Max Weinbach wrote in a thread that in most of the source code, the device is even called the Galaxy S11.

Samsung apparently decided to change the name in a short period of time. Reddit users also suspected why Samsung made the change. Although it sounds reasonable, Samsung may also want to prevent users from comparing the Galaxy S11 too much to the older Apple iPhone 11.

For these reasons, Samsung has changed the name of the phone before. Therefore, the Galaxy Note 6 went offline and jumped directly from Note 5 to Note 7. Reason: The S and Note series should run digitally simultaneously so that users can see that the device is at the same level.
