the problem still exists
Since April 26th, Save.TV online recorder has been offline. When the provider announced shortly afterwards, the service was hacked, and the attacker penetrated into the system and possibly obtained customer data. Then, Save.TV stopped all services, and the site has been offline for two weeks.
Now, many customers are angry, rumors are spreading, and some users are worried about the company going bankrupt. We have checked for you, but encountered some obstacles in the research. The most important thing in advance: Save.TV should be back online early next week.
Contact? Nothing
Save.TV has become part of Regensburg service company Omniga GmbH & Co. KG. We were unable to contact Omniga by phone, and all calls appeared to be closed. We only received the following message: "The requested interlocutor is currently unavailable, please try again later."
The written question is to be determined, but the answer is still to be determined. If we get the answer, we will of course update this article immediately. We can only contact our own Save.TV through customer service, so we cannot meet the contact information required by the media.
When we first called 911, we came to an outsourced call center that could not answer any questions. We were postponed and should try to resolve Save.TV's customer service itself later. If there are too many calls, they will be directed to an external call center. The second call was successful.
Friendly staff cannot keep us in touch with management or other responsible persons, but we can answer the most important questions.
Plan to restart next week
The original plan was to restart Save.TV this week. However, the IT department postponed its release in order to bring the service online with maximum security. It is currently assumed that Save.TV will be available again early next week-however, 100% is not guaranteed-everything is virtual.
The company regularly provides updates about the current status on Facebook. In the previous article, I promised customers that compensation will be provided in the form of free months and will pay attention in the next few days.
According to customer service, Save.TV customers will be notified via email before restarting. As a result of the attack, the service deleted all customer passwords. Therefore, if you want to register with Save.TV immediately when the online recorder is available again, you must set a new password.
Customer Information
During the hacking attack, the attacker may have accessed the customer data. Depending on Save.TV itself, the name, billing address, payment data (such as IBAN and account number) and other data may be affected. According to a Save.TV statement on Facebook, so far, there is no indication that external access to customer data, whether it is access or eavesdropping.
According to customer service, the customer ’s account data is again protected separately in the system. According to the employee, eavesdropping is impossible-impossible, but not excluded. Therefore, Save.TV recommends that users pay more attention to SPAM emails and suspicious debits to their bank accounts. On the website, it says more accurately:
- From now on, please note whether suspicious debits appear in your account.
- Immediately change all passwords for accounts linked to your email address or bank details. Determine the priority of accounts required to restore other user accounts or passwords. If you use our service account passwords elsewhere, you should change these passwords immediately afterwards.
- Check your account settings (such as automatically forwarding mail). Any changes indicate unauthorized access. If necessary, correct these settings as soon as possible.
- If you find someone impersonating you, please notify the provider of the affected account immediately and arrange to block the account. Then, let your friends know that your identity has been stolen.
- Please pay special attention to the phishing emails in your inbox, do not click on any suspicious links for you, but report them.
Rumors about deleting entries in the business register
Save.TV ltd. The deletion of the business registration record has caused dissatisfaction among some customers. Some people suspect that the company is now quietly disappearing. Save.TV itself wrote on its website:
"Recently, as part of the BREXIT issue, we converted the company name from English Ltd. (ltd) to Germany GmbH. The conversion removed the business registration entry of the Ltd. (ltd.). However, the GmbH is still registered in the commercial registration . So do n’t worry. This change is in the interest of our German customers and will not hurt you. "
What happens to recorded and programmed programs?
Save.TV is currently unable to make any statement about which recording time is missing after restart. Not all saved recordings may be available.
the problem still exists
At least on Facebook, Save.TV will regularly report updates and should be given positive comments. However, not all customer comments are answered. For example, they did not receive an answer to a question about the possibility of termination without notice due to failure to provide services. Other inquiries on Facebook did not help either, and no reply was received because a more detailed statement will be made shortly.
The fact that bothers us is that apart from customer service, no one can answer questions well. Customer service representatives will of course protect themselves and usually answer questions with "possible", "possible" or "we assume". However, we hope that Save.TV will actually start next week, and you can use the service as usual. If you have any questions, you can contact customer service by phone number 0341 302 130 21 Monday to Friday from 10am to 8pm, Saturday from 10am to 6pm.
