The cooperative horror game Lethal Company is possible on Steam right now through the roof. And it could be even more successful if it weren’t for the disgusting and scary spiders. But the developer Zeekerss already has a solution to the problem: Probably the funniest filter in a horror game ever.
Spider
or just leads
?
As we all know, horror games are supposed to be scary or at least disgusting, but not everyone tolerates that equally well. While some walk through the gates of hell laughing, for others the fun is over as soon as the light switch is turned on. One of the most common fears is arachnophobia, the fear of spiders.
A filter for spiders: In Lethal Company you go through abandoned buildings and stations looking for scrap that you can then sell. There you will also come across huge spiders. To make the game more accessible to arachnophobics, Zeekerss has one optional spider filter built-in. But just look for yourself:

As you can see, the spider becomes easy through the written word Spider
i.e. English for Spider
exchanged. While the survival game Grounded, for example, distorts the nasty creepy crawlies beyond recognition, in Lethal Company you are dealing with an entry from the English vocabulary book.
Fun practice: It only gets really fun when you apply the filter yourself. If the spider is standing on a corner, it happens the name is partially obscured. So you don’t see any Spider
but only one leads
. But be careful: are you feeding yourself because you think that one leads
If there is no danger, you will be disabused of it when you have a clear view of the monster.

Anyone who is afraid of both spiders and English lessons will not have an easy time with Lethal Company. But with the spider filter, co-op horror has already become much more accessible (and funnier). By the way, you can find other interesting articles here (completely free of creepy crawlies, of course):
What do you think of the spider filter? Are you an arachnophobe yourself or do the eight-legged beasts not bother you at all? Are you playing Lethal Company or are you still planning to? If so, will you use the spider filter? Do you perhaps have another idea to make the game more accessible? We are very interested in your opinion, so feel free to write it in the comments!
