Wednesday continues to be a hit on Netflix and Season 2 seems inevitable. The showrunners already have ideas for the sequel.
Wednesday made the heyday of the Netflix platform and should have the rights to its second season. Given such success, it couldn’t be otherwise unless the VOD giant has other plans, but given that it’s trying to win subscribers back at all costs, it would be surprising if it didn’t order right away. Everyone talks about it as if it’s already there. Season 2 of Wednesday is therefore gradually being confirmed without warning, and besides, showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar already have some ideas in mind. Spoiler alert.
Wednesday Season 2 could focus more on its characters
Jenna Ortega could therefore return for a season 2 as Wednesday and according to the show’s creators, this sequel should see big things. In fact, when asked by the Hollywood Reporter, the two men have lifted the veil on some ideas they would like to develop in Season 2 Wednesday
For Al Gough, the main idea was to develop the characters by making them more complex than ever, especially Wednesday, who gradually opened up in the first season, especially by befriending his roommate Enid. Relationships and perspectives that Al Gough plans to explore further.
We want to explore and somehow complicate all relationships in the future. School was closed when they left, which gives us more options for season two, and I think that’s something we’d like to explore. For us, the series is also about this friendship between Wednesday and Enid, it’s central. We’d like to explore this aspect of Mercredi’s personality more closely now that she’s opened up to friendship. Then the other thing that would be really interesting would be to further explore the mother-daughter relationship between Wednesday and Morticia. How will their relationship develop after the events of Season 1?

Developing facets of Wednesday’s personality should therefore be a central element of the next season, but not only. According to Miles Millar, the series could go further, but nothing is decided yet. The showrunners claim to have a roadmap and move organically as the writing progresses. And when asked about the fan theory that Wednesday and Enid would become a couple, Millar replies that anything is possible.
We don’t exclude anything of course, the characters sometimes reveal themselves, that’s what we like about the series, it’s a very organic way of traveling. We have a road map, and we have roads on that map that will take you in sometimes totally unexpected directions. So we’re open to anything. We want to explore that friendship in any way we can, but we’re not there yet and sometimes you get misled by fans and things like that. Right now we’re at the stage where we’re really open to seeing how these characters and this friendship are going to develop. As Al said, this friendship between Wednesday and Enid is at the heart of our vision for the series.

In any case, shortly after the series aired, fans on social media got carried away and even started a hashtag “Wenclair” (a hybrid of Wednesday and Enid Sinclair). For many, Wednesday and Enid would be a perfect match, but as the showrunners have said, nothing is set in stone just yet.
Season 2 of Wednesday Netlfix has not yet been confirmed to be causing a lot of buzz already. Fans are eagerly awaiting the return of young Addams and her stripper Jenna Ortega, who we’ll see on the poster before scream 6. Corridor rumors nonetheless claim that writing should begin early next year and Netflix should formalize the launch of a second season in no time. We’ll have to be patient for now, but the showrunners are very motivated to get back to work. When asked how long they plan to work on the series, they bluntly answer “as much as possible.” Wednesday therefore has a bright future ahead of it as long as Netflix accepts it and viewers respond to it.
