Most fans of Game of Thrones will probably agree on one thing: The eighth and final season of the HBO series fell far short of its potential. Too few episodes, storylines that were told too hastily and correspondingly unsatisfactory character developments left a bitter aftertaste for many viewers.
Even stars of the series such as Emilia Clarke, Kit Harington, Sophie Turner and Maisie Williams made no secret of the fact that the ending of Game of Thrones left a lot to be desired in their eyes. But at least one of the main actors in the adaptation of George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire sees things differently.
Peter Dinklage remains consistent with his conclusion on season 8
Peter Dinklage Five years after the series finale, the show never tires of defending the eighth season. In December 2021, New York Times The Tyrion actor revealed that he is a fan of the ending of Game of Thrones and that he thinks some fans are simply angry that there are no new episodes.
Now – almost five years later – Dinklage’s position on this has changed little. In an interview with Rolling Stone The 55-year-old actor once again reflects on the end of Game of Thrones and draws a similar but far more conciliatory conclusion:
To emphasize again: This is just my opinion. I like the finale! Nobody has to agree with that. If I were to say: Yes, I agree with you – I hate the finale. Wasn’t the last season just awful?
In my opinion, that would be far less appropriate than saying that I love it – which I really do.
I can only speak for myself. But I think that’s exactly what makes it so fun. Everyone has their own opinion and everyone can write and talk about it and get drunk while doing it and then argue with each other about it.
That’s great. It means that something must have been done right somewhere. That’s an old Irish way of looking at the world. If everything was great, then something would be wrong.
