The case of The Day Before is getting more and more curious.: The survival hope used to be one of the most requested games on Steam, but it’s now gone from the Valve platform. And not only that: developer Fntastic announced shortly afterwards that that The Day Before will be postponed again – this time by nine months.
Actually, the mixture of The Last of Us and The Division should appear on March 1st, now it’s officially on November 10th, 2023. The gameplay promised for January will probably also come later. But what exactly happened? We’ll bring you up to date.

The Day Before disappears from Steam: Developer Fntastic’s game is currently unavailable on Steam. Both links to the original Steam page and a specific search lead nowhere. The established industry insider SkillUpYT according to Fntastic previously stated that a bug should be responsible for this, but an official statement now tells a different story.
Fntastic provides the curious reason: In a post on Twitter, Fntastic claims that a third-party copyright claim regarding the title The Day Before
exist. According to the studio, Steam would have removed the game from its own site because of this – Fntastic only claims to have found out about these claims a few days ago.
According to their own statements, the developers are now trying to find a solution, but are now postponing the release of The Day Before again by several months. Furthermore, Fntastic deliver the best possible experience
while getting down despite the copyright debacle to 100 percent
focus on the game itself.

Final release and gameplay delayed: The Day Before was originally supposed to be released in June 2022. Just a few weeks before that, however, Fntastic postponed the release to March 1, 2023 because they switched from Unreal Engine 4 to Unreal Engine 5. Now the launch is delayed again by a total of nine months.
At the same time, the first uncut gameplay prom ised for January 2023 is still a long time coming. Developer Fntastic states on Twitter that they will first consult with lawyers about the further procedure. When exactly the gameplay, the announcement of which has already caused ridicule, is currently not known.

What exactly was The Day Before game again? The Day Before caused a stir right from the start: the first trailers captivated with beautiful graphics, the game principle is reminiscent of a mixture of The Last of Us, The Division and DayZ. In the meantime, The Day Before has blossomed into the most wanted game on Steam and was only displaced from number 1 by Hogwarts Legacy.
But not everyone believes in the dream of The Day Before – for various reasons. Up until now (a few weeks before the planned release), nobody has been able to play The Day Before. Previous projects by the developer Fntastic also caused skepticism as to whether the developer could even handle an ambitious game of this magnitude.
Apart from that, there were controversies with the developer Fntastic. For example, that The Day Before partly by unpaid volunteers
is co-developed. Only recently did the announcement of unchanged, uncut gameplay cause ridicule from the community.
The current Steam drama should now continue to stir up the waves around The Day Before. As of now, developer Fntastic wants the game on 10. November 2023 publish.
