It has been known for a long time that EA is working on the continuation of the well-known skate series. It has been quiet about the new title for a long time and there has not been any concrete information so far – but that could change in the near future.
According to a new report, the official and detailed presentation of the new skateboard hope, Skate 4, could be imminent. At least that’s what the usually well-informed insider Tom Henderson now says via Try Hard
According to reports, the name of the new part of the series should not be Skate 4, but probably simply Skate. In the meantime, the development work is said to have progressed further than was last assumed after leaked game impressions appeared on the Internet in April.
Several months have passed since the announcement of the new part. The confirmation of the work on a new offshoot of the series was already made as part of the EA Play Live 2020 Showcase by Franchise Director Deran Chung and Creative Director Chris Parry. The following January, EA formed the Vancouver-based development studio Full Circle, which was commissioned with the development work; Daniel McCulloch, the former Head of Xbox Live at Microsoft, acts as studio manager there.
Since then, however, details about the game have been completely scarce; in the meantime there were only a few bits of information and tips. For example, it was at least confirmed to investors that Skate 4 should have an open game world and content created by users themselves.
The last part of the series called Skate 3 was released in May 2010.
