The team behind Skyblivion, a massive mod project that’s remaking The Elder Scrolls IV in the Skyrim engine—yes, the one where everyone’s faces look a little funny—just shared some new quests. It’s a little bit of the Mages Guild, a little bit of farm-based fighting, and aside from the occasional bug, everything looks pretty good.
In this latest showcase, Skyblivion developers first provided an update on development progress, with the video narrator revealing that everything is still on track for the 2025 release date previously set by the team.

So what did we see this time around? Well, two classic Oblivion quests, Fingers of the Mountain and The Killing Field, the latter of which appears to have been renamed Killing Fields.
Both take place in and around Chorrol, meaning the videos offer panoramic views of the city in the Great Forest, which is usually one of the first places you’ll arrive at during a game of Oblivion, as Weynon Priory is right next to it. The team seems to have done a good job of retaining the nostalgic feel and layout of Chorrol while making it more vivid and detailed, as you can see when the player chats with Earana in the central square during the first mission.
Finger of the Mountain is all about acquiring a book to gain favor (or lack thereof) with the Mages Guild, and the gameplay gave us a close look at how modders transformed the Cloudtop ruins where the book is found into a more visually stunning place, as they revealed in their reveal stream earlier this year.
The only problem is that Earana herself suffers from a classic Skyrim facial color bug, which Skyblivion project lead Kyle Rebel later acknowledged in a tweet, writing: “This is an easy fix, but we are not trying to hide current bugs in the game. This is an accurate representation of the current game state, and that’s what we want to show. If you look closely, [are] There are some more prominent errors in the video.”
Regardless, aside from a few minor glitches, both this quest and The Killing Fields, in which players help the son of retired warrior Varus Odil fight off some goblins attacking the family farm, look pretty good, while the latter’s original plot has been enhanced with some dynamic world changes depending on the ending, and the iconic Chillrend sword has been faithfully remade.
“While progress is steady, we’re always looking for more volunteers to help us finish the project and get it into your hands as soon as possible,” the video’s narrator says of the team’s current status, later revealing that the team will provide “more insights” on its current progress later this year as 2025 approaches.
