In order for all devices to work perfectly in the smart home, manufacturers have to keep the products up to date with software updates again and again. If this does not happen, the users of affected smart home devices can cause problems. Problems also occur with Philips Hue-Lamps in interaction with the voice assistant Amazon Alexa.
In fact, that has been there for a while and over time Customer reviews of the Philips Hue-Skill on Amazon all kinds of complaints accumulated. Numerous users report that Alexa loses the connection to the Hue-Bridge. Language commands such as “Alexa, switching on the light in the living room” only lead to the error message. Lamps and sockets can no longer be operated by voice assistant.
Particularly serious: In many cases, the control only works through the Philips Hue Bridge – a separate control unit. Those who have only rely on Alexa integration are severely restricted.
Apparently not the same difficulties everywhere
However, the problem does not express itself everywhere. For some users, for example, the control via the Philips Hue app still works, others also report problems in the app. The attempt to separate the connection between Alexa and Philips Hue and re -establish the devices does not bring any permanent success in many. At least for some users, the interaction of Alexa and Philips Hue then worked for a limited time again.
Particularly frustrating: Neither Amazon nor Philips-HUE manufacturer Signify has so far dealt with customer complaints on the skill page for Philips Hue. Since the problem has existed for some time, it is unclear when a solution can be expected.
