Action RPG players are currently spoiled for choice: Wolcen: Lords of Mayhem is still very popular and on March 13, 2020 the 20th ladder season of Diablo 3 will start as well as the latest Path of Exile expansion Delirium, that makes the gigantic skill tree even bigger.
But Grim Dawn also has a lot to offer, which should especially please fans of what may be the best action RPG of all time: The Modder Ram has actually made the entire content of Diablo 2 and its expansion Lord of Destruction playable in its mod Reign of Terror.
Diablo 2 – finally in real HD
The extensive mod is currently probably the best way to relive Diablo 2 and Lord of Destruction in modern graphics – after all, Blizzard has not yet announced a remaster of the action RPG classic.
The Grim Dawn Mod currently provides the following content:
- Files one to five are completely playable.
- All classes (Barbarian, Amazon, Necromancer, Paladin, Sorceress, Druid and Assassin) are playable.
- The classes have access to all skills – popular builds like the Hammerdin or the Frost-Orb-Sorceress can be played easily.
- All unique and set items can be found.
- The Horadrim cube can be used to make equipment.
- Runes and rune words are also available.
- Even the extremely difficult pandemonium event can be contested.
Grim Dawn's unique class system, in which players can combine two different classes, opens up again when building characters completely new opportunities
You can also tackle the mod with the classes of Grim Dawn yourself and combine them with the Diablo heroes.
In order to play the Reign of Terror Mod, you need both the main game Grim Dawn and the two extensions Ashes of Malmouth and Forgotten Gods.
The mod has its own extensive wiki with lots of other information, in which you can also find a link to download.
