If you’re tired of having Sonic games so close together, here’s a statement that’s sure to excite a lot of people. A big update for the license soon?
Takashi Iizuka, the head of the Sonic team at SEGA, recently shared his interest in developing another game. Although this project is not yet in development, this idea is generating excitement among fans of the famous franchise. We can understand why, because this is very different from what we are used to from the license.
Sonic might suggest something else
During an interview with Good Vibes Gaming, Iizuka expressed his surprise at the lack of a true Sonic RPG since the series debuted over 30 years ago. Although Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood, released for Nintendo DS in 2008 and developed by BioWare, is an RPG, it was not produced by Sonic Team itself.
Iizuka admitted his love for role-playing games and explained: “ Personally, I like role-playing games. The RPG format is a lot of fun and I wonder why we haven’t made a Sonic RPG all these years. » However, he quickly dampened expectations by clarifying that there are currently no concrete plans: “ I would love to work on a Sonic RPG at some point before I retire from SEGA. But right now it’s just a dream; there’s no concrete plan. »
While waiting for the possible implementation of this RPG project, fans of the blue hedgehog can look forward to several new features. The game “X Shadow Generations” looks promising and there are rumors of a sequel to Frontiers. These projects show the vitality and diversity of Sonic’s future adventures.
The idea of an RPG, while still hypothetical, offers an exciting prospect for the future of the franchise. Takashi Iizuka’s statements reflect a sincere desire to explore new horizons for Sonic. In the meantime, fans can look forward to ongoing projects and hope that this RPG dream will one day come true.
