sonic frontier The first DLC is coming later this week, bringing the sights, sounds and speed of Stafall Islands to the game for free.
Shortly after the game’s release, SEGA announced that Sonic Frontiers will receive three rounds of DLC sometime in 2023, all of which will be released for free. In an email to players, SEGA has now confirmed that the first free update, Sights, Sounds and Speed, will be released later this week on March 23rd (thanks VGC). No specifics were provided in the email, but the name matches the first update shown in the roadmap.
The first update will include a jukebox mode, which might just let you listen to any music in the game, a photo mode, which is pretty self-explanatory, and the new challenge mode, which based on the image shown in the roadmap will be Each level you can play in the game has more challenges.
The update is only a few days away, so we’re not too far away from concrete details. As far as the other updates go, we don’t yet know when they’ll arrive, but we do know what to expect. Update two will add Sonic’s birthday, which can actually mean anything other than literally celebrating his birthday. It will also add an open area challenge, which may add add itional challenges on various maps. And a new Koco is being added, though what that means is unclear.
For the third update, you’ll be able to play as Tails, Knuckles, and Amy, each of whom featured prominently in the base game, and there will be some new stories, but details are still scarce.
How else the game might change is unclear, as director Morio Kishimoto noted last year that it “still [has] There’s still a long way to go,” so maybe we can expect some tweaks here and there to some of the more humble elements.
