The movie “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is doing extremely well and is becoming the second most successful video game adaptation ever.
The third of the Sonic films also hit again – in fact, even more than the two predecessors. “Sonic the Hedgehog 3” is now the second most successful video game film ever in the USA and is only beaten in this category by its big rival Mario from Nintendo.
While the old rivalry between Sonic and Mario from the late 80s and early 90s is being revived in the film sector, things couldn't be going better for SEGA's blue hedgehog – at least in the film sector in question. While the newer 3D Sonic parts weren't as convincing as the 3D Marios, the latest movie is doing excellently. In the USA alone, the film has now grossed $204 million, surpassing “Sonic the Hedgehog 2”.
The most successful video game film in the USA remains “The Super Mario Bros. Movie” – and for the time being by a wide margin. The Nintendo film grossed almost $575 million, well ahead of “Sonic 3.”
The first trailer worth seeing for the third part of the Sonic the Hedgehog film series has now been presented, which also focuses on Shadow as an antagonist.
