Sons of the Forest is taking the world by storm, with over 160,000 people playing at the same time right now – and we’re not done yet. Many fight primarily for survival, others beat the bad manners out of the face of cannibals in co-op and still others want one thing above all: build!
Unfortunately, Sons of the Forest doesn’t really offer many options in Early Access, especially when it comes to furnishings. You can craft the first chairs, a table with a bed, a shelf, but beyond that you quickly reach the end of the current possibilities.
But that doesn’t slow down the community. There are various very cool buildings on Reddit that can serve as inspiration and proof of what is already possible in Sons of the Forest. Because at least the free joining of tree trunks and wooden planks gives you certain creative freedom. This mountain hut shows that very nicely:

A lot of cool buildings use slopes to enhance the look of the whole thing. The Survival Handbook mainly teaches you about flat roofs and square structures, but you can also construct sloping roofs or corner elements with sloping half or quarter trunks.
Just stupid: Currently there is no really good way to fill open triangles. You can see that in the hut above: Strictly speaking, it’s pretty airy. You can even attach the slopes at different angles to build a naturally flattening hut that looks like this:

The hut in the video also nicely incorporates other items that you wouldn’t normally put in your living room, such as a scarecrow. There is also an outdoor area with meat dryers and a balcony with a small vegetable garden.
There is also a lot of discussion about door mechanisms at the moment. If you want to lock your door for cannibals, there are only workarounds in the current build. For example, you can staple a piece of paper to the door that locks the thing for everyone – including you. Logical. Alternatively you can place a stick in stones in front of the door, that just keeps the AI out. You can find more tips for Sons of the Forest here:
