Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the acquisition of a Seattle developer, Valkyrie Entertainment.
Valkyrie is known for providing content and co-development services to many acclaimed studios. She will join PlayStation Studios as the 17th studio and will assist in the development of the “key PlayStation Studios franchise.”
“Valkyrie Entertainment is an adaptable and respected studio that produces high-quality works on various platforms from consoles to PCs; and various styles from action games to games-as-a-service games,” Hermen Hulst, head of PlayStation Studios, said in a press release.
“As we continue to focus on providing an extraordinary gaming experience, Valkyrie’s diverse capabilities will be welcomed by every team at PlayStation Studios.”
Since 2002, the studio has contributed to more than 100 games. These include PlayStation franchises such as “God of War”, “Infamous” and “Twisted Metal.”
Valkyrie has also contributed to Halo Infinite, Forza Motorsport series, Valorant, League of Legends, and more high-profile games. The studio is currently cooperating with Sony Santa Monica Studios to develop “The Twilight of the Gods of War”.
The daily operations after the acquisition will continue to be the responsibility of Valkyrie Entertainment’s current management team. The terms of the transaction, including the cost of the acquisition, were not disclosed.
Valkyrie joined other recently acquired studios, making it the fifth time Sony has acquired a studio this year. Earlier this year, the company announced that it had included Housemarque, Nixxes, Firesprite and Bluepoint Games.
