Splinter Cell als Battle Royale? Maybe that’s almost true – at least that’s what an alleged test player from Ubisoft claims. He published the information on the Internet and explained how exactly the game would have looked.
How credible the leak is cannot currently be verified. No Splinter Cell BR was officially announced, and in 2019 there was only vague talk of “offshoots”. However, Ubisoft has canceled at least seven planned games since July 2022, including this project.
So treat the information with a healthy dose of skepticism – but they basically sound credible.
This is how the Splinter Cell BR is supposed to work
Here’s the full post from the anonymous crea tor that originally appeared on 4Chan. We’ll summarize the key points below.

- The game would have Splinter Cell: Hunters should be called and would have become a third-person PvPvE title.
- you would have as Duo-Teams Played with up to 14 other squads on a nighttime map.
- In order to achieve certain points, your two operators would have had to work together, for example to pull each other up walls.
- The goal would have been to eliminate certain NPCs and escape the map alive with their loot – which of a kind extraction shooter sounds.
- Instead of wild shooting, the game would have been tactical spy skills set, which make you invisible, for example, or with which you switch off all the lights in an area.
- After death, players would have become Mercs who hunt down the remaining spies with a thick arsenal of weapons and thus fight for a second chance.
Allegedly, the author of the post took part in several game tests of Splinter Cell: Hunters, most recently in July 2022. Ubisoft wanted to announce the title shortly afterwards – but as is well known, that never happened. The post does not give a reason for the termination.
According to Ubisoft, a Splinter Cell remake based on the Snowdrop engine is currently in the works. A real sequel is not in sight.
Feel free to write us your opinion on the alleged leak: How would you have liked Splinter Cell: Hunters? Do you like the idea of a battle royale / extraction shooter with espionage instead of shooting? Or would you much prefer a new part of Splinter Cell?
